The
cave develops vertically and is characterized by the presence
of elegant brown meagres Sciaena umbra and very big underwater
stalagmites, "the monks". The deep entrance is at - 20 metres,
the superior one at -7mt. After having passed the atrium we avoid going
down in a muddy and dangerous hole. We can go left or right for
ascending and reaching the first level where the brown meagres and the
boxer shrimp Stenopus spinosus generally live. The second level Is dominated
by the big stalagmites. On the wall a nice niche with small coloury and
red cardinal fishes Apogon imberbis. We surface in an air bubble
with an high vault, helicoids and other cave formations. An oblique
tunnel ten metres long brings us from surface to open water (-7mt). In
It is easy to find small red scorpion fishes Scorpaena nocato,
sponge crabs Dromia personata and different snails.
The area around the cave Is valid to observe two banded breams Diplodus
vulgaris swarms and the curious Dentex dentex. Opposite the
entrance there is a channel reaching -45 mt where deep divers can find
the red coral Corallium rubrum. |
